After 15 years and thousands of posts, we're closing ShockBlast for good.
We've been quiet for about seven years. Truth is we drifted, life pulled us in other directions, and the site just sat there. Rather than let it hang around half-dead forever, we'd rather shut it down properly and say a real thank you first.
None of this happened without you. You sent us your work and trusted us to share it, and for years that trust was the whole thing. We were just the wall you hung it on.
You're the reason it meant anything. Some of you commented, most of you never did, and it honestly never mattered. You kept showing up, year after year, and that's what turned this from a folder of nice images into something that felt like a place.

The internet's changed a lot since we started. Back then a blog was somewhere you went on purpose. You'd check in, see what had been dug up that week, and actually sit with it.
Then the feed took over, and instead of choosing what to look at you just got fed whatever an algorithm figured would keep you scrolling.
Lately a good chunk of that isn't even made by people anymore. It's AI, dropped into the space the work used to fill. I go back and forth on it. Some of it's genuinely impressive. Most of it just makes me miss what we had here.
A machine can copy how something looks. It can't copy why anyone made it. Every piece we posted came from a person trying to say something, and half the time it kicked off an argument in the comments worth reading. That's what made this place matter, and it's the part nothing can fake.
So thank you, all of you, for making it what it was. Keep making things. And don't let all the noise convince you it isn't worth it.
In the end this was never really about the site. It was about the people who filled it.
